Students of the BFI Program are encouraged to pursue the certification programs offered by IRDA, AMFI and NCFM. The BFI Program integrates the curricula of these certification programs in the respective subjects covered in Term I and Term II. The certification programs offered by IRDA , AMFI and NCFM are governed by the regulations of the respective organizations. INC is not associated with IRDA, AMFI and NCFM in any manner. The IRDA Certification for Insurance The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) was constituted by an Act of Parliament in 1999. IRDA is empowered to specify the qualifications, code of conduct and practical training for insurance intermediaries and agents. IRDA regulations make it mandatory for those who seek to be appointed as insurance agents or intermediaries, a minimum specified number of hours of practical training from an approved institution followed by testing and certification. The modules covered are broadly divided into two categories: Life Insurance and General Insurance. The AMFI Certification for Mutual Funds The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) is an apex body of all Asset Management Companies (AMC) which are registered with the SEBI. AMFI develops a team of well qualified and trained Agent Distributors. It implements a programme of training and certification for all intermediaries and others engaged in the mutual fund industry including employees of mutual funds. AMFI certification is based on a testing programme. There are two modules: the AMFI Mutual Fund (Basic) Module and the AMFI Mutual Fund (Advisors) Module. The NCFM Certification for Financial Markets The National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. was set-up by financial institutions to provide access to investors from across the country on an equal footing. NSE is India's leading stock exchange covering various cities and towns across the country. It has set-up facilities that serve as a model for the securities industry in terms of systems, practices and procedures. NSE introduced testing and certification in Financial Markets with a view to protect interests of investors in financial markets and to minimize risks of losses arising out of deficient understanding of markets and instruments. NSE's Certification in Financial Markets (NCFM) is an online testing system. It tests the practical knowledge required to operate in the financial markets. |
